What keeps you excited in the studio?
Continuing to ask questions and surprising myself. What if?
Looking back at your trajectory as an artist, how would you say your work has developed?
I’ve spent my whole life trying to develop my skills. Now, I’m trying to let them go.
What role do you think the artist has in today’s society?
The artist is a lightning rod for the soul.
What’s the most important advice you could give to an aspiring artist?
Follow your interests, be you, and don’t compare.
Does age matter in art? Why or why not?
Age does not matter. Staying fresh is a matter of curiousity.
What can we look forward to from you next?
I have an urge to go big. I’m also finding myself stuffing big boulders in nylon stockings–something is brewing!
Is there anything else you would like to share about being an artist later in life?
Beginners mind is always a gift. Being older has a great fuck-you spirit.
