What keeps you excited in the studio?
New adventures in creating and the joy it gives me to make beautiful work.
Looking back at your trajectory as an artist, how would you say your work has developed?
I have made art professionally for 49 years. It has developed as my life experiences have unfolded. Lots of media changes, and a continual thread and style that winds its way through.
What role do you think the artist has in today’s society?
An important role in carrying forth the artistic tradition, bringing positive energy and creative light into the world.
What’s the most important advice you could give to an aspiring artist?
Do not stop, give priority to your inspiration.
Does age matter in art? Why or why not?
It has a mixed role depending on what you are after. Opportunity is tricky but there!
What can we look forward to from you next?
Larger works, more community involvement with an organization I am a part of in the Joshua Tree area.
Is there anything else you would like to share about being an artist later in life?
I feel you shift your focus a bit, as you get older, to continue creating art but to focus on your legacy as well. The act of creating becomes even more important.
