What keeps you excited in the studio?
It can be something as simple as a new color, a vivid dream or just a germ of an idea that i can’t wait to experiment with
Looking back at your trajectory as an artist, how would you say your work has developed?
My art has become much bolder and looser as i’ve aged. I quit caring about how I thought it should look or about what people would think. Age has been very freeing in that respect
What role do you think the artist has in today’s society?
Art can evoke very deep feelings not ever artist is going to produce socially relevant work however we all need some light in dark times and i feel that art can provide this
What’s the most important advice you could give to an aspiring artist?
Do something every day even if its just doodling and turn off the critic in your head if possible and remember comparison is the thief of joy
Does age matter in art? Why or why not?
Age doesn’t matter, life experience might however I’ve seen plenty of wonderful art from very young people
What can we look forward to from you next?
Im obsessed with my garden and plan to do another abstract series from it i’d like to dive deeper into mixed
Media
Is there anything else you would like to share about being an artist later in life?
Age can be very freeing, you get to know yourself and you tend to lose your filters which can be both bad and exhilarating
