Anticipation is building for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, the sequel to Emma Tammi’s smash-horror hit of 2023, but the fun and fear isn’t going to stop there. The FNaF film franchise, which is based on Scott Cawthon’s popular video game series, is expected to continue beyond the second film, with up to three films planned so far, and it might not be long until Freddy Fazbear and friends are on the big screen again. Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 has just received a surprising filming update ahead of the next movie landing in theaters this year.
According to ComicBook.com, industry insider Daniel Richtman (DanielRPK) has shared a Patreon post to provide an update on Five Nights at Freddy’s 3. He revealed production plans for the threequel, which is yet to be officially announced, indicating that filming on the third movie will begin in late 2025, while the sequel to the 2023 horror video game adaptation is still in theaters. This is much earlier than expected, as it was previously rumored that cameras would start rolling in spring or summer 2026, gearing up for a release sometime in 2027.

Five Nights at Freddy’s fans will no doubt be breathing a huge sigh of relief over the reported trilogy and plans to get production on the third movie promptly underway. The first film was announced in 2015, but it then took eight years to arrive in theaters (and on Peacock). Its sequel, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, is scheduled to be released on Dec. 5, 2025, more than two years after the first film. However, if filming on Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 starts up later this year, then there could be a significantly shorter wait for the next movie to come out.
