Marvel Studios is ready to finally release new series Ironheart on Disney+, with the series premiering on June 24 after a long delay. Although the show has received plenty of online criticism from “fans,” it looks like there are a lot of people currently reliving some of the connected MCU movies before the series arrives.
In advance of Ironheart’s arrival, Hulu subscribers have sent a string of Marvel movies to the top of the chart for the first time, suggesting that the complaints following Ironheart’s trailer release are possibly coming from the same set of trolls who have slammed almost every Marvel Cinematic Universe project led by a female character – and Black characters in particular.
The upcoming MCU series stars Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams and is executive produced by Ryan Coogler.
Currently, Iron Man 2, Robert Downey Jr.’s second outing as Tony Stark, is topping the chart and has been accompanied by the movie that started it all, Iron Man, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which introduced Riri Williams, aka Ironheart, to the MCU. Also joining these further down the chart are Iron Man 3 and Black Panther.
While the titles are also available on Disney+, it certainly looks like the imminent arrival of Ironheart has given fans a reason to revisit these two sub-franchises to bring themselves up to date with some of the stories that ultimately led to the newest story to join the MCU’s interconnected universe.
‘Ironheart’ Continues Iron Man’s Legacy, Without Being an Iron Man Replacement

Currently, Ironheart has a simple synopsis, reading, “Genius teenage inventor Riri Williams creates the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man.” However, that is not the full story, as Riri Williams is not just a tech genius, but she is about to become entangled in a world of dark magic that will litter her path with danger.
This angle of tech and magic will set the character apart from Tony Stark, who was completely based in a tech world, while he balked at the likes of “the magician” Steven Strange and others who brought magic to the MCU story. While there are, ironically, many theories around Downey Jr.’s return to the story in Avengers: Doomsday centering on a version of Tony Stark who turned his back on tech and delved into magic, resulting in his transformation into Doctor Doom, Riri’s story in Ironheart seems like it is actually covering off that angle in advance of Doomsday’s debut.
The series could also be the first MCU project to finally feature an incarnation of Mephisto, a character that has been rumored to appear in almost every project for the last five years to no avail. This time around though, the dark magical elements could certainly hint at a nefarious puppeteer behind the magic that Riri gets involved in. Fans don’t have too long to wait to find out, as Ironheart will drop on Disney+ on June 24.
Dua Lipa pulled out all the stops over the past two nights (June 20-21) for her debut concerts at London’s giant Wembley Stadium, bringing out surprise guests Charli xcx on Saturday for “360” and Jamiroquai on Friday for their first live performance together of the latter’s 1996 hit “Virtual Insanity.” [...]
