The British legend behind Mr. Bean, Johnny English, and Man vs. Bee is returning for a second show with Netflix, and this time he’s fighting a baby (kind of). Rowan Atkinson first partnered with Netflix for Man vs. Bee, a comedy series far funnier than its name would imply. Released in 2022, the show received decent reviews, earning 74% on Rotten Tomatoes, although audiences weren’t as kind with 59%. Many assumed Atkinson and Netflix were one and done after Man vs. Bee was canceled in 2023, but the actor is back for another go around.
Netflix announced the new series on social media, with the caption, “Rowan’s back, baby!” The post shared four hilarious photos of Rowan Atkinson Photoshopped into four popular Netflix shows. Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, Sex Education, and Fool Me Once were among the four, with the screenshots showing the newborn characters in the respective shows. Underneath the photos, a second comment read:
“We’re expecting… chaos. Man Vs Baby is now in production!”
Man vs. Bee saw Atkinson’s house-sitting Trevor go to war against a bee which got into the home he was looking after. But don’t expect Rowan Atkinson to swat any babies out of the air in Man vs Baby (despite what the title suggests), as he’ll be babysitting in the new show. Atkinson co-created Man vs. Baby alongside Will Davies. David Kerr is directing the series. No release date or episode count has officially been announced yet.
Despite mixed reviews from audiences, Man vs Bee has garnered a dedicated fan base. That fan base is still upset that Man vs Bee was axed by the streamer (another example of Netflix culling a great show after just one season). The announcement of Man vs. Baby came with a cry of applause from the fan base, who cannot wait for more Rowan Atkinson shenanigans.

Why Netflix’s Man vs. Bee Deserves a Second Season
Star Rowan Atkinson’s new take on familiar slapstick comedy was a hit with audiences. Here’s why Netflix’s Man vs. Bee deserves another season.
“Netflix, you’re bringing back Rowan as if he ever went anywhere. Chaos? More like the usual “how did Rowan get himself into this mess this time?” scenario wrote @ShitMcShitface (great name). The sentiment was shared by many under the post. “Oh I’m so onboard!” said @provenleader. Others joked about the Photoshopped images of Rowan Atkinson in shows like Sex Education, with @colbridgey writing, “like mother like son.”
Man vs. Bee threw Rowan Atkinson into his usual chaotic antics. The Mr. Bean legend has made a name for himself with his uniquely British, self-deprecating physical comedy. Man vs. Bee saw Atkinson play Trevor, a homeless man who is mistaken for a house-sitter and given a job looking after a luxury home. But, when a bee gets in, he goes to extreme lengths to get rid of it — he must have hated Bee Movie.
