Tim Curry Returns to the Big Screen in New Horror Movie Stream

August 21, 2024 - Movies

One of the most beloved actors of any generation, Tim Curry, is returning to the big screen for the horror movie Stream, which opens today in select theaters. Curry became a cultural icon in the 1970s thanks to his portrayal of Dr. Frank N. Furter in the cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and would go on to contribute to people’s fear of clowns by playing Pennywise the Dancing Clown in the 1990 television adaptation of the Stephen King novel, IT. He hasn’t been seen in a feature film since 2010’s Burke & Hare, though he has continued to lend his voice to a number of projects since, including Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Per Variety, Curry will appear in Stream, the new horror movie by writer/director Michael Leavy. The director released a statement to celebrate the surprising casting reveal, saying that it was hard to keep it a secret.

“This has been a really hard secret to keep and contain our excitement, especially for this long. We are so happy and thrilled to bring Tim back to the movies and back to the big screen! His charm always radiates and shines through everything he does and we are so honored to have him a part of Stream.”

One of the most beloved performers of all time for his iconic characters, from live-action to animated, here are some of the best Tim Curry movies.

Leavy went on to say that working with the legendary actor has been a dream of his for a while now. Curry’s last live-action appearance came by way of the 2016 TV musical, The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let’s Do the Time Warp Again, which served as both a tribute to and a remake of the original. For Leavy, he’s just happy to bring Curry back to theaters, and hopes that everyone will enjoy Stream the way it was meant to be seen: with a crowd of raucous horror fans.

“He is someone I have idolized personally growing up and it is one of the major highlights of my life getting to work with him, especially on a project that means so much to me. We can’t wait for fans to sit back and enjoy our movie in theaters and hopefully with a huge crowd having a blast together! This is the way horror films are meant to be seen and enjoyed. Stream is here to entertain!”

Stream Brings Together a Number of Horror Icons

In addition to Curry, Leavy has assembled an all-star cast for his latest horror flick, which features a number of horror icons including Dee Wallace (The Howling), Jeffrey Combs (Re-Animator), Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp), Danielle Harris (Halloween franchise), and Daniel Roebuck (The Devil’s Rejects). Produced by the same team that brought fans the Terrifier franchise, Stream centers on a family terrorized by four killers while just trying to enjoy a nice getaway. Check out the official synopsis below.

The Keenan family’s simple weekend getaway truly turns into a vacation to die for, as four deranged killers playing a sadistic game lock down their hotel and compete for the most creative murders of all the guests.
