Agatha All Along‘s FunkoPop has led fans to believe that Aubrey Plaza‘s character might be Lady Death. Plaza plays Rio Vidal, a.k.a Green Witch, in the Disney Plus series. She is an old nemesis of Agatha Harkness and the fourth witch of her coven. Moreover, she is a new character who has zero connections to comics. However, did FunkoPop spoil her original identity in the MCU? Here are the details.
Marvel Studios haven’t officially confirmed Aubrey Plaza’s Rio Vidal as Lady Death.
Funko recently launched Agatha All Along’s adorable FunkoPops featuring three characters from the series. It included Agatha Harkness, Wiccan, and Death. However, what particularly drew fans’ attention was Lady Death, who isn’t yet introduced in the series. The toy sported a similar appearance to Rio Vidal’s character, igniting speculations about her potentially being revealed as Lady Death in coming episodes. However, it is to be noted that this is pure conjecture based on recent hints, Marvel Studios has yet to give a word on it.
Previously, in an interview, Plaza expressed her gratitude for getting to play an MCU character. However, she also teased that there is her character’s surprising reveal which will send fans into a frenzy. Marvel Studios recently dropped a teaser hinting at Death’s reveal in upcoming episodes. In the teaser, the coven witches try to summon a spirit via the Ouija board. Agatha utters, “There’s someone here with us” and then she eventually spells D-E-A-T-H. With Plaza’s cues and the latest teaser, the upcoming episodes will likely give a verdict on Rio Vidal’s character.
Per Marvel Comics, Lady Death is a physical embodiment of Death, created by Mike Friedrich and Jim Starlin. She was first introduced in Captain Marvel #26 comics. As a cosmic being, she wields complete power over death, allowing her to kill or resurrect anybody. Other abilities also include telekinesis, immortality, shape-shifting, healing, teleportation, and more. With Rio Vidal’s abilities being familiar to Lady Death, there is a possibility of her playing the character. The audience should still wait for an official confirmation.
