Dissecting both idioms, ‘long in tooth’ means to get on in years, and ‘howling at the moon’ is used to indicate something that one wastes their energy on.

If age is what sparks the sense of maturity that comes across in “Howl W” and energy was spent to create and execute it, then it’s safe to say that getting long in tooth and howling at the moon works in our favor.
