Fruit Bats go way, way back on Indie Shuffle. We’re talking all the way to the early days of the blog, circa 2009.
They’ve been on and off my radar since then, mostly because my brother has become a huge fan, attending their shows whenever they swing through the Bay Area.
To my delight, the band sent me their latest single called “Rushin’ River Valley,” and it managed to hit all the right notes in a familiar Fruit Bats way.
Apparently the band has been through numerous lineup twists and turns over the years, but the familiar voice of Eric D. Johnson seems to remain a center-piece that wins me over time and time again.
You’ll find this song on the band’s soon-to-be-released album A River Running to Your Heart, due for release on April 16th via Merge Records.
