Meet The Mentors: dinomight – The Spotify Community

We’ve got mentors from all ’round the world and all kinds of expertise! Today we’d love to introduce you to Brett, a true legend with loads of knowledge about everything Spotify and Community! 

Tell us a bit about yourself!

My name is Brett, and I’m from Texas, USA. I’d estimate that I’ve been a part of the Stars Program for about 9 years. I joined not too long after it started and have been part of the community itself for 10 years. I find myself most often helping users who have questions about Android, Windows, and the Library.

Your favourite board on the Spotify Community

I mainly stick to the boards that are part of my areas of expertise, so I’d say the library board tends to be one of my favorites because of the variety of questions that might pop up. Some are things that I may not have even considered someone might have an issue with, and it’s often a simple matter to help explain to the user what they’re experiencing. Other times there might be some feature that I’ve had some thoughts on but never bothered to mention, and I’ll happen to see someone else bring the topic up. If nothing else, getting that bit of feedback/affirmation can be a good thing, and it’s nice to have those conversations and be able to reassure users that they’re not the only ones experiencing whatever the topic may be experiencing!

Your advice to folks thinking of joining the Star Program

If you enjoy spending time in the community and would like to participate more, give it a chance, because there’s nothing to lose and lots of great people to help you get started! Don’t feel like you need to know everything about Spotify or troubleshooting to be able to help. There are so many types of questions users have, and it doesn’t take too long to get an idea of where you can best contribute.

What song could you live with having stuck in your head for the rest of your life?

I have yet to get tired of Blinding Lights by the Weeknd, and it always seems to get stuck in my head whenever I hear it, so I’m going with that for the moment!
