A Small Point of Land – Call for Art by Artists of East Side of Narragansett Bay

The Bristol Art Museum in Bristol, RI announces a call to artists for a juried art exhibition, September 23 – October 28, 2023. Cash Awards. Juror: Michele Poirier-Mozzone. All media except for video or time-based work. The following are some possible interpretations of the theme, “Small Point of Land”: – The complex or nuanced ways in which a sense of place might be a factor when forming identity. – How place can manifest spiritual experience. – The psychological relationship an artist might have with the Bay or the exploration of concepts related to boundaries. – Considerations regarding the forgotten people of the past tying together with the present and future. $30 for 1 entry, $40 for 2, $50 for 3. Marlow Heights Community Center – Public Art Opportunity

The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission invites artists (individuals and artist teams) with professional experience in creating public art and site-specific commissions, to submit qualifications for exterior public art features at the Marlow Heights Community Center in Marlow Heights, MD. The Project includes two separate components: 1) A free-standing sculptural element on the plaza which must fit within a 10’x10′ area and not exceed 18′ in height ($150,000 budget). The selected artist for the sculptural element will design, fabricate and install a low-maintenance exterior art feature, which may be glass, metal, stone, concrete, wood, mixed media or lighting. 2) A functional bench enhanced by mosaic elements. Artists will be selected to develop a proposal for the mosaic application to the bench ($80,000 budget). The foundation for the bench will be fabricated and installed by the project’s construction contractors and thus requires close coordination with the team members. The artworks should have the potential for becoming landmark identifiers for the surrounding community, and be family-friendly. The Gallery at Spencertown Academy Arts Center in Spencertown, NY seeks entries for a juried art exhibition, September 30 – October 29, 2023. $800 in awards. Strokes of Genius 2023

The Maryland Federation of Art (MFA) in Annapolis, MD invites all artists residing in the US, Canada, and Mexico to enter our 12th annual all-painting competition, Strokes of Genius. Works selected by the juror will be exhibited in MFA’s Circle Gallery from Oct 25 – Nov 25, 2023. $1,000 in awards. A painter creates with head, heart, and hand. The sweep and flow of the brushstroke is transmitted to paper and canvas conveying the physical power and emotional tenderness of the artist’s voice. All original 2D work created through any painting media (oil, pastel, acrylic, watercolor, encaustic, etc.) and following entry guidelines will be considered. $40 or $25 for MFA Members. “Humor”

DISTRICT Arts, a contemporary art gallery located in the historic district of downtown Frederick, MD, announces a call to artists for a juried art exhibition, October 4-29, 2023. 94th Juried Art Show at Phillips’ Mill

The Phillips’ Mill Community Association welcomes submissions to its 94th Juried Art Show, Bucks County, PA’s most prestigious art exhibition. Three $1000 “Patrons’ Awards” plus additional awards will be presented. Last year, prizes totaling over $11,000 were awarded. Artists within a 25-mile radius of the Mill (see Prospectus) are invited to submit their work. All submissions must be registered online via Smarter Entry prior to being dropped off at the Mill on September 8 or 9 for in-person jurying. Painting, works on paper, printmaking, sculpture. Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center in Solomons, MD invites emerging and established artists to submit original artworks to ‘Warm and Cozy: art that comforts.’ The exhibit will feature artwork that captures the sensation of feeling warm, and the physical and emotional responses we have to being warm. One of our most basic human needs, warmth can signify comfort, security, intimacy, and community connection. Depictions of sun-drenched landscapes and intimate cozy interiors, heartfelt portraits and loving embraces, plush soft sculpture and tactile works, warm wearable art, multi-sensory installations, or nostalgic subjects and family traditions are all welcome.
