My work has evolved to be more focused on So Cal subject matter and themes
What role do you think the artist has in today’s society?
The artist can create a lens to help others see more clearly the themes of contemporary society.
What’s the most important advice you could give to an aspiring artist?
Don’t worry about the audience; find your unique voice in your artwork that brings you the greatest happiness.
Does age matter in art? Why or why not?
Age matters little. Some young artists are full of talent and enthusiasm, and flame out like Basquiat. Other older artists bring experience and more wisdom to their work.
What can we look forward to from you next?
I’m just starting a mixed media series on climate change produced natural disasters that impact L.A. iconographic landscapes.
Is there anything else you would like to share about being an artist later in life?
I have been lucky to have earned enough from my earlier career in media to pursue my art making, freed from a revenue-producing necessity.
