We’re going fishing with David Welker and composer Jake Cadmus for our newest release!
Snow globes have long fascinated us and kept us entertained, as both children and adults, so we set out to challenge ourselves and David on a unique, entertaining, and utterly beautiful project–the Ice Fishing Musical Snow Globe. We worked alongside our sculptors and David to bring his beloved print to life, and David worked directly with Jake on a delightful, fully original composition piece that perfectly accompanies the solitary turtle fishing through a calm snowfall.
Per David:
“September is always a wonderful time of transition, so let’s start it off with something a little different. I’ve always had a sentimental place in my heart for Snow Globes.
There’s some simple magic in that moment of being able to hold the world and make it snow and just take a few seconds out of the day to watch the snowflakes fall.
With the help of my friends at Bottleneck Gallery, I took the opportunity to recreate an old favorite illustration of mine and sculpt it into a three dimensional scene.
Some of you may remember the Ice Fishing Turtle, happily catching fish in a frozen netherworld.
This piece really seemed like a perfect candidate for a snow globe. So here he is in his eternal moment of zen. I hope his blissful state and sweet song brings you some joy.”
