Jon Batiste is perhaps the most talented pianist in the modern era, and he is also a great vocalist. This talented person came to India for the first time and captivated all the Indian music lovers with his musical magic. This first performance by the artist offered a sensational experience to the music lovers in India.
The show was promoted and produced by BookMyShow Live, and this solo performance turned into a huge collective effort since the audience also joined him during his performance. The singer-musician appeared on the stage with an appealing glow, and then he took a seat at the piano to showcase his magical fingers. The event took place at Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam, and a huge pool of people were there to enjoy his creative presence.

The production partner of the event, BookMyShow’s Naman Pugalia, shared, “Bringing Jon Batiste to India is a special moment, not just for fans but for the evolution of India’s live music culture.” He further added, “His artistry transcends genre, geography, and form, and watching him build an emotional, almost spiritual connection with audiences in the country reaffirms why we are committed to bringing global icons to Indian stages.”
Pugalia also said, “Batiste’s debut underscored a simple truth: India is increasingly open to diverse, world-class talent, marking another encouraging step in the country’s growing presence within the global live music landscape.”
Jon started his performance with creative piano compositions, and the crowd welcomed him with applause. He made sure to perform his highly popular Grammy-nominated track ‘Lonely Avenue,’ and the audience was expecting it a lot. While performing the song, the artist took a brief pause just before the chorus part and scanned the room to understand whether the audience would interact, and then he said, “Become my choir.”
The crowd joined him as soon as he asked them, and they followed the cues offered by Jon. What was initially his solo performance soon became an active and collaborative project with the audience. It was quite a magical experience when hundreds of soaring voices joined the choir, and Jon was quite astonished himself, as he never thought the Indian audiences would be this active and supportive.
Jon said, “This is one of the beautiful things that we are doing together here today, and it is a powerful thing to celebrate the music of those who have come before us,” and he performed a new, creative rendition of Duke Ellington’s Caravan. There was also an ample amount of jazz and Blue Monk to tantalize the hearts of the listeners.
