September is shaping up to be an excellent month for Hulu and Disney+, with a handful of must-watch TV shows arriving on the platform in the coming few weeks. These are a combination of new and returning projects, some of which are smaller parts of larger franchises, while others stand alone as fresh and new additions.

Regardless of whether these September releases are brand new or part of something larger, each has something special that makes it worth tuning in for. We have the fifth installment in a highly successful Hulu series, a Disney+ K-drama that should bring the perfect balance of action and romance, a new project in the Star Wars and Lego crossover realm, and more.

Only Murders In The Building – Season 5

September 9th, 2025

The highly anticipated fifth installment of Only Murders in the Building will arrive on Hulu on September 20, 2025. Season 5 will kick off with a three-episode premiere on this date, with the remaining seven episodes then releasing weekly on Tuesdays (totalling 10 episodes for Only Murders in the Building season 5). The season finale will, therefore, air on October 28, 2025.

Only Murders in the Building stars Steve Martin, Martin Short, Selena Gomez, and Michael Cyril. An exceptional list of guest stars has been added to the docket for season 5, including Meryl Streep, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Nathan Lane, Richard Kind, Robby Cannacale, Renée Zellweger, Keegan-Michael Key, Téa Leoni, and more.

The trailer for Only Murders in the Building season 5 sees Charles, Oliver, and Mabel dive into an investigation surrounding the suspicious death of the titular building’s doorman, Lester. Though the man’s death was ruled an accident, this trio isn’t buying it. Naturally, it isn’t long before they begin to uncover a convoluted web of chaotic secrets. Only Murders in the Building seasons 1 through 4 are currently available to stream on Hulu.

The series is based on the Star Wars franchise and comes from showrunners Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit. The Lowdown

September 24th, 2025

FX has another intriguing new series on the way with The Lowdown, which will have a total of eight episodes in its first installment. The first two episodes will premiere on the FX channel on September 23, 2025, before becoming available on Hulu and Disney+ on September 24, 2025. From there, new episodes will premiere weekly until the finale airs on November 4, 2025.

The Lowdown comes from creator Sterlin Harjo, known for the FX comedy drama series Reservation Dogs. Like this project, Lowdown will be set in Oklahoma. It will star Ethan Hawke as the primary character, Lee Raybon, who is loosely based on real-world figure Lee Roy Chapman. Hawke will be joined in Lowdown by Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Kaniehtiio Horn, Tim Blake Nelson, Jeanne Tripplehorn, and more.

Harjo’s newest FX series will tell the story of Hawke’s Lee, a Tulsa bookstore owner who is dedicated to exposing corruption within his city. The man’s immense knowledge gets him into worlds of trouble, and, in The Lowdown, this kicks off with the suspicious suicide of a member of a powerful Tulsa family. As Lee attempts to dive deeper into this story, something always manages to get in the way.

Marvel Zombies

September 24th, 2025

Marvel Animation’s next big TV project, Marvel Zombies, wasn’t originally supposed to arrive in September, but we got lucky. Disney+ has moved up the timeline, so the project will officially arrive on the streaming platform on September 24, 2025 (instead of the planned October premiere). Marvel Zombies will be made up of four episodes, all of which will be available to stream immediately on the 24th.

Marvel Zombies comes from creator Zeb Wells, and is based on the comic book series of the same name by The Walking Dead‘s Robert Kirkman and Sean Phillips. Bryan Andrews serves as showrunner and director for the series, which will feature the voices of several big Marvel stars, including Awkwafina, David Harbour, Simu Liu, Elizabeth Olsen, Randall Park, Florence Pugh, Paul Rudd, and more.

The foundation for Marvel Zombies comes from the What If… ? season 1 episode “What If… Zombies?!” which explored a version of the Marvel universe set during a zombie apocalypse. In this alternate timeline, our Avengers will have been turned into zombies by a global virus, leaving a crew of survivors to save the world from them and the other infected.

Chad Powers

September 30th, 2025

Hulu’s Chad Powers is a sports comedy TV series that will premiere on September 30, 2025. This will be another two-episode premiere, with the remaining four episodes (a total of six) releasing every Tuesday on Hulu from then on out. The finale of Chad Power season 1 will, therefore, hit the streaming service on October 28, 2025.

Chad Powers is based on a sketch that aired on ESPN+ as part of the Eli’s Places series, during which athlete Eli Manning went undercover at a Penn State walk-on tryout using the name Chad Powers. The upcoming comedy series is created by Glen Powell and Michael Waldron, both of whom serve as executive producers alongside Manning and his brother, Payton Manning. Powell will also star as the titular character.

Similar to the Eli Places sketch, Chad Powers will see Powell’s character take on a disguise after he tanked his college football career with his chronic bad behavior. With few other options left, he takes his new alter ego onto the field of an underdog Southern football team.
