Final Destination Bloodlines dropped in theaters at precisely the right moment to scare up business and become a dominant force at the box office. The horror film’s triumphant debut came perfectly sandwiched between the Thunderbolts* theatrical release and the arrival of two of the summer’s most anticipated blockbusters, Lilo & Stitch and Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning. So, as a result, Bloodlines didn’t have any genuine competition, which led to the movie not only notching the top spot at the box office with an estimated $51 million domestically, but the frightening flick also set a franchise record in the process. Check out the killer numbers not adjusted for inflation below:
Box Office: Final Destination Franchise’s Best Opening Weekends
Final Destination Bloodlines ($51 million)
The Final Destination ($27.4 million)
Final Destination 3 ($19.2 million)
Final Destination 5 ($18 million)
Final Destination 2 ($16 million)
Final Destination ($10 million)
Final Destination Bloodlines also fared equally well overseas as the latest installment in the horror franchise made another $51 million for an impressive worldwide total of $102 million against a production budget of only $50 million. Thus, Bloodlines marked the third straight hit for Warner Bros. Pictures, which distributed not only the new Final Destination entry, but A Minecraft Movie and Sinners, too.
Heigh-ho, heigh-ho, Disney’s financial struggles are fixing to turn around thanks to Experiment 626’s arrival on the big screen.
Fans flocked to theaters over the weekend to witness the creative carnage Final Destination Bloodlines had to offer, which led to the horror film becoming a runaway hit after only one weekend of release. As a result, Bloodlines has already been “Verified Hot” on the Rotten Tomatoes Popcornmeter with a rating of 89%, not to mention its badass “B+” CinemaScore. However, as it turns out, even the critics were enchanted by Bloodlines.
‘Final Destination Bloodlines’ Kills With Critics and Fans Alike
Warner Bros. Pictures
Final Destination Bloodlines supplanted last week’s box office champion,Thunderbolts*, to become the No. 1 movie over the weekend, in large part thanks to all the fans who made the horror film such a financial hit. However, even the critics were blown away by Bloodlines, whose reviews resulted in a franchise-record Rotten Tomatoes score for the Final Destination film series. Currently, Bloodlines boasts a “Certified Fresh” 93% on the RT Tomatometer, and now check out the ratings below to see where the latest installment ranks all time.
Final Destination Franchise: Best Rotten Tomatoes Scores (Tomatometer)

Meanwhile, the rest of the weekend box office fell in line behind Final Destination Bloodlines. Marvel’s Thunderbolts* laid claim to the No. 2 spot with $16.5 million, which brought the latest MCU entry’s domestic total to $155.4 million en route to a worldwide take of $325.7 million after three weekends of theatrical release. Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler’s must-see Sinners continued to do no wrong as the vampire flick secured the No. 3 slot with another $15.4 million. A Minecraft Movie checked in at No. 4 over the weekend with $5.9 million, but the Jason Momoa and Jack Black-led flick continued to lose steam, trying to eclipse the billion-dollar mark at the worldwide box office.
A Minecraft Movie has made $925.8 million globally, but it will be virtually impossible for the video game adaptation to cross the $1 billion barrier now. Meanwhile, Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal’s The Accountant 2 rounded out the Top 5 with $4.9 million, and A24’s “deranged and delightful” Friendship expanded its limited theatrical release by over 50 theaters. Sadly, even though it held the weekend’s best per-theater average ($23,338), Paul Rudd’s latest comedy missed out on cracking the Top 5 at No. 7 with $1.4 million, while Lionsgate’s newcomer, Hurry Up Tomorrow, had to settle for No. 6 after posting a lackluster debut of only $3.3 million.
Lilo & Stitch and Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning join the 2025 box office next on May 23. Both films are poised to make a killing over the Memorial Day holiday, which will lead to the highest-grossing weekend of the summer movie season yet. Lilo & Stitch is eyeing a four-day take of $120 million, while Tom Cruise’s latest stunt-filled adventure as IMF agent Ethan Hunt could make $100 million itself.
Ego Nwodim returned to Saturday Night Live’s “Weekend Update” — even after her now-viral bit seemingly landed her in hot water with the network. “You know her, you love her [and] you got her fined by the FCC, show some love for Miss Eggy,” costar Colin Jost quipped during the [...]
