Despite the departure of Henry Cavill, The Witcher fans are simmering with anticipation regarding the upcoming Season 4, which will see The Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth take over the lead role as Geralt. Now,

The Continent awaits. Here’s your exclusive first clip of Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher: Season 4. Returns October 30th, only on Netflix.
A huge sigh of disappointment (and no doubt much frustrated yelling) let out when original The Witcher lead Henry Cavill revealed that he would be walking away from the Netflix series. In a statement released at the time, Cavill revealed that “the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf,” with the actor enthusiastic “to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men.” In his own statement, Hemsworth heaped praise on Cavill’s portrayal, and expressed his excitement over joining the fantasy series.
“As a Witcher fan, I’m over the moon about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia. Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I’m honored that he’s handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure. Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character. I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m truly excited to be stepping into The Witcher world.”
Netflix has since revealed that The Witcher Season 5 will be the show’s last, with the streaming giant saying, “We’re heading back to The Continent. The Witcher Season 4 is officially in production. And Season 5 is coming to bring this epic series to a fitting conclusion.” However, while the main series will come to an end, it has since been teased that The Witcher universe could expand beyond the adventures of Geralt of Rivia.
As for Liam Hemsworth, the actor has likened taking over the main role to that of Doctor Who, with it being previously teased that the recasting will be done in a “meta” way. Something that’s sure to get fans’ heads spinning.
“This was a really unique situation that I don’t think many actors have ever dealt with, apart from maybe the people who have played Doctor Who characters over the years, because predominantly the rest of the cast has stayed the same, but the lead actor has changed. For me, it felt like coming in and starting high school when everyone else is already friends and has relationships with each other and has been there since the beginning. At times, you kind of feel like an outsider, and it’s nothing like any of the cast or crew has treated me in that way. Everyone has been nothing but welcoming and extremely aware of what the situation is.”
