Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 is headed to Disney+ later this year, but the hit action fantasy adaptation is already planning another installment. The series, based on the popular Rick Riordan novels, has a bright future ahead, and Disney is not letting up anytime soon.
The official social media account for Percy Jackson posted an image from the set of Season 3, which has just started filming. Walker Scobell is seen in his attire as the titular character, holding a clapperboard. The upcoming season is expected to be based on the events of The Titan’s Curse, the third installment in Riordan’s book franchise. With Season 2 focusing on Sea of Monsters (which previously got a film), the third season will be the first time that The Titan’s Curse has been adapted in live-action. Check out the image below:
It’s safe to say that fans will be elated to learn that the Percy Jackson series will at least get past where the failed film franchise finished. A bevy of fan-favorites introduced in The Titan’s Curse, including the Hunters of Artemis, will finally be making their way onto the small screen. With two more novels left in the first Percy Jackson franchise, it is expected that Disney will pick up another two seasons. Of course, it likely hinges on the streaming performance of the next two installments. Disney recently canceled Goosebumps after Season 2, so it is clearly willing to shut down underperforming titles.
