If you are looking to pick out the right categories for today’s Connections puzzle, you will also want to look at these clues to help you out. There are a lot of different combinations of words and some of the words in this one feel misleading. There is a fun mix of words though, and today’s puzzle feels like it’s the right amount of challenging. It still might require some specialized knowledge in some of the categories, but players should feel fairly good about it.
If you are looking for another puzzle, the NYT’s Tiles puzzle is a great one to try when your brain doesn’t feel like it’s working right. It’s more of a matching game as opposed to a thinking game. It’s about matching each layer of each tile to one on another tile and keeping the streak going. The trick is to try to match it to a tile that has something else to match so you can keep the run going as long as possible for a higher score.
If you are looking for hints you are in luck because I have quite a few for you today. There are plenty of things you can do with this puzzle with a few hints to guide your way. However, there are also a few places where it’s easy to trip. I was lucky to finish this one right before the end of my guesses. It’s been a running theme the last few days, but I’ll take the win even if it’s close.

WORDS MISSPELLED IN NU METAL BAND NAMES |

---|---|---|---|
BRANCH |
DIVISION |
LIMB |
WING |
This category was fairly easy but I didn’t get it until later. This is mainly due to the fact that I was unsure what the fourth word was. BRANCH, DIVISION, and WING were all fairly obvious to me, but the last one was not. Additionally, at one point, I had BRANCH and LIMB with a number of other “tree” related words that didn’t end up being a category at all. This is pretty typical in Connections, but luckily I was able to get LIMB in the end after all.
ACCESSORIES FOR PLAYING AN INSTRUMENT |

---|---|---|---|
BOW |
DRUMSTICK |
MALLET |
PICK |
This one I got first and it felt the most obvious out of all of them. There are a lot of instruments that require something else to play them, and these words are those tools. There are a lot of possible instruments that could have been used, but luckily all of these were distinct enough that I was able to guess them without much issue. That could be my time spent in band class, but I’m not mad about it as it made the puzzle that much easier.

DISTINCTIVE FEATURES OF AN ELEPHANT |

---|---|---|---|
EAR |
MEMORY |
TRUNK |
TUSK |
This one was the second category I got but the one where I messed up as well. This is mainly because I first guessed all the “tree” words and then had to re-evaluate the words and figure out where they were supposed to go. Eventually, I realized that animals could have all of these words, although LIMB was not in this category. Eventually, I saw MEMORY and knew that it was associated with elephants, so I ended up guessing and getting this one right.
WORDS MISSPELLED IN NU METAL BAND NAMES |

---|---|---|---|
BISCUIT |
CORN |
LINCOLN |
STAINED |
Last but not least, I did not and would not have guessed this one ahead of time. I don’t personally listen to Nu Metal, but I have friends who do. That being said because I don’t, I would generally be unaware of how the bands actually spell their names. Luckily, I came to this one last so I didn’t need that special knowledge to get this one, although it would have been fairly useful if I had. That might have kept me from being down to my last guess, but that is what it is.
