Hilary Duff Is ‘So Happy’ to Announce 1st New Single in 10 Years

November 3, 2025 - Music

A world without new Hilary Duff music is so yesterday.

The Younger alum, 38, announced on Monday, November 3, that her first new single in 10 years is dropping this week. Titled “Mature,” the track will be out Thursday, November 6.

“So happy this is finally yours to hear,” Duff wrote via Instagram alongside the single’s cover art. “Been keeping this one quiet too long. My new single Mature is out Nov 6. 🍸🪩🍒.”

Eagle-eyed fans noticed that a countdown appeared on Duff’s website this weekend, teasing an announcement to come on Monday. The former Disney star also shared a link to her site via her Instagram Stories on Sunday, November 2, though she didn’t offer any hints about what she was teasing.

In September, Duff confirmed that she was working on new music after signing a contract with Atlantic Records. That announcement also revealed that she has a docuseries in the works that will follow her “long-awaited musical return and personal journey, offering an unfiltered vignette into Hilary’s world,” per a press release.

“Embracing the ups, downs and everything in between, fans will ride shotgun as she balances raising a family, recording new music, live show rehearsals and preparing to perform on stage for the first time in over a decade,” the release continued.

Let the rain fall down and wake our dreams, because Hilary Duff is finally making music again. Duff, 37, announced on Tuesday, September 9, that she has signed with Atlantic Records for her “highly anticipated return to music.” She also has a docuseries in the works that will follow her “long-awaited musical return and personal […]

The docuseries doesn’t have a release date yet but will be directed by Sam Wrench, who previously helmed Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour film and Sabrina Carpenter’s Netflix holiday special, A Nonsense Christmas.

While Duff has remained active as an actress for the past decade, her most recent album — the widely slept-on Breathe In. Breathe Out. — dropped in June 2015. She has occasionally teased a return to music since then, but she said in December 2023 that raising a family has made it harder to get back in the studio. (The Lizzie McGuire star shares daughters Banks, 7, Mae, 4, and Townes, 18 months, with husband Matthew Koma, whom she wed in 2019. She also shares son Luca, 13, with ex-husband Mike Comrie.)

“I always am thinking about it,” Duff told Access Hollywood at the time when asked whether she had any plans to record new songs. “I never wanna blame my kids for this, but I’m so immersed in motherhood right now, and it’s so much easier to book an acting job and be like, ‘OK, I have to be at work at 6 a.m. and then I’m gonna be done by 9 tonight and then I’m gonna be home.’ I am in the middle of my real life, and that is very much a part of not my real life, like, from my past. So, I have to just figure out a way for those two things to meet.”

Last month, Duff revealed that she’s been working with Koma, 38, as well as a “few other amazingly talented people” on her new music. (Koma is a singer-songwriter and producer who fronts the project Winnetka Bowling League.)

“I always knew I was going to return to music,” Duff told Variety. “I needed to feel safe and I needed to have the right people in my corner and be absolutely 100 percent ready. Honestly, I needed to have 10 years of life under my belt. I needed a lot to say. This album feels like the inner workings of my brain, and I really am so excited to connect with people again on that level, that very forward-facing level.”

She went on to joke that she’s most interested in hearing what her LGBTQIA+ fans think of her latest project.

“You know it’s all for them,” she quipped. “It’s just to impress them.”
