“Humor”

DISTRICT Arts, a contemporary art gallery located in the historic district of downtown Frederick, MD, announces a call to artists for a juried art exhibition, October 4-29, 2023. Best in Show: $500, Award of Merit: $250, Honorable Mention: $100. Juror: Glen Kessler. “Humor” is about the undisguised use of humor in modern contemporary art. It is not subtle. It’s in your face. It’s laugh out loud. It can be satire, caricature, the absurd, or irony. It can be utterly ridiculous. We are interested in showcasing work that makes the viewers smile, chuckle or evoke a belly-laugh. Open to all residents in the United States. $25 for one submission, $30 for two, $35 for three. 94th Juried Art Show at Phillips’ Mill

The Phillips’ Mill Community Association welcomes submissions to its 94th Juried Art Show, Bucks County, PA’s most prestigious art exhibition. Three $1000 “Patrons’ Awards” plus additional awards will be presented. Last year, prizes totaling over $11,000 were awarded. Artists within a 25-mile radius of the Mill (see Prospectus) are invited to submit their work. All submissions must be registered online via Smarter Entry prior to being dropped off at the Mill on September 8 or 9 for in-person jurying. Painting, works on paper, printmaking, sculpture. No photography. All work must be for sale. Selected artwork will be exhibited at Phillips’ Mill, a historic 18th-century grist mill just north of New Hope, PA, as well as online, September 23-October 29. $35 entry fee; Mill members: $17.50 (Join online before registering). Eighth Annual Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition

The Newburyport Art Association in Newburyport, MA announces a call to artists for the Eighth Annual Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition, October 1, 2023 – August 31, 2024. $50 stipend per sculpture. The garden is open to the public 24/7, and sculptures must not be a public safety hazard. (Please note that it is not possible for NAA to monitor the garden at all times.) Sculptures must be resistant to New England weather and coastal conditions. All works must be available for purchase and the NAA will retain 40% commission on each sale. No entry fee. Warm and Cozy: Art that Comforts

Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center in Solomons, MD invites emerging and established artists to submit original artworks to ‘Warm and Cozy: art that comforts.’ The exhibit will feature artwork that captures the sensation of feeling warm, and the physical and emotional responses we have to being warm. One of our most basic human needs, warmth can signify comfort, security, intimacy, and community connection. Depictions of sun-drenched landscapes and intimate cozy interiors, heartfelt portraits and loving embraces, plush soft sculpture and tactile works, warm wearable art, multi-sensory installations, or nostalgic subjects and family traditions are all welcome. Maryland Federation of Art (MFA) invites all artists residing in any of the states or territories of the US, Canada, or Mexico to enter our 21st annual Small Wonders exhibition, Nov 29 – Dec 23, 2023 at the MFA’s Circle Gallery in Annapolis, Maryland. $1,000 in awards. Juror: Lillian Bayley Hoover, Professor at Towson University. This exhibition is for artists who dream big but work small. Work is limited to under 11 inches in all directions, but there’s no limit on creativity or media. The Pequot Library in Southport, CT seeks entries for their annual Art Show and Fundraiser. Opening Gala: October 12, 2023; Exhibition: October 13-24. First Place: $500, Second Place: $250, Third Place: $100, Staff Pick: $50, Community Pick: $50. The Council for the Arts in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania seeks entries for a juried miniature art exhibition, November 3 – December 23, 2023. Best of Show ($300), 3 Merit Awards ($100 each) and Honorable Mentions. Juror: Meredith Grimsley. Image size must be no greater than 4″ x 6″, not to exceed 24 square inches; outside of framed pieces must be no greater than 6″ x 8″, not to exceed 48 square inches. Mats & frames should be delicate and in proportion to the work. Sculpture should not exceed 5″ in any dimension, or 125 cubic inches.
