EXCLUSIVE: Greenland outfit Anton has appointed former Sky and Focus exec Jamie Schwartz to the newly created role of Director of Marketing and Brands.
Schwartz, who will be based in London and will report to Anton CEO Sébastien Raybaud, will oversee marketing and publicity in addition to leading Anton’s global marketing and brand strategy in film and TV.
He will focus on marketing across Anton’s slate which includes My Darling California, the dark comedy crime-thriller starring Jessica Chastain, Josh Brolin, Chris Pine, Mikey Madison, Don Cheadle and Charles Melton; Paul Weitz’s In Love, starring George Clooney and Annette Bening, based on Amy Bloom’s New York Times bestselling memoir; Zachary Wigon’s psychological horror film Victorian Psycho from Longlegs producer Dan Kagan, starring Maika Monroe, Thomasin Mckenzie and Jason Isaacs; and the survival thriller A Prayer for the Dying starring Johnny Flynn and John C. Reilly.
Schwartz joins the company following the departure late last year of Anton’s VP Marketing and Publicity Karina Gechtman who left to explore other avenues.
Schwartz recently served as Director of Movies Marketing at Sky where he oversaw the theatrical releases of Lee and Nuremberg. Prior to that, he launched campaigns for The Last of Us, Succession, House of the Dragon and The White Lotus for streaming service Now TV.
At Focus, he worked on the international releases for films including Darkest Hour, BlacKkKlansman, Downton Abbey, Phantom Thread and Lady Bird.
In 2024, Paddington and His Dark Materials backer Anton raised €100M ($108M) in funding led by BlackRock. With outposts in London, LA and Berlin, Raybaud’s goal has been to create a “pan-European studio” with a focus on commercial English-language features, primarily in the action, thriller, elevated horror and science fiction genre.
Recent films include David Mackenzie’s thriller Fuze starring Theo James and Aaron Taylor-Johnson and the Oscar nominated animation Memoir of a Snail. Released in the U.S. over the weekend was Greenland: Migration starring Gerard Butler, who reprises his role in the sequel to Anton’s Greenland.
“Jamie brings a wealth of experience to the role and is the ideal executive to spearhead global marketing and brand strategy for our growing slate of films and series,” said Raybaud. “He has an extraordinary track record with deep relationships in the industry and we are delighted that he is joining the senior team at Anton.”
“I was immediately struck by Anton’s ambitious slate and can’t wait to dive right in. I’m excited by the ambition to create best-in-class marketing campaigns and strengthen the impact of Anton’s brand around the world,” added Schwartz.
